The Jeremy Brown Memorial Fund was established in honor of my husband, Sergeant Jeremy R. Brown, who was killed in the line of duty on July 23, 2021. While his death was tragic and heartbreaking, the Fund exists because of the way he lived.
Jeremy never measured a life by the attention it received, only by the difference it made. If you asked the people who knew him what made him special, they probably wouldn’t start with his career. They’d tell you about his quiet strength, his unwavering integrity, his humble warrior heart, and the way he showed up for people without ever asking for recognition. He believed leadership was about serving others. He believed kindness and humility were strengths, not weaknesses. And he believed taking care of people was never optional. That is the legacy I want people to remember.
Today, the Jeremy Brown Memorial Fund honors Jeremy by doing what he would have done himself: showing up for others. We support law enforcement officers, their families, and others directly affected by death, serious injury, critical illness, family tragedy, trauma, and other extraordinary hardship. We also seek opportunities to strengthen wellness, resilience, and recovery throughout Washington’s law-enforcement community.
We know we cannot meet every need, but we will never stop trying to meet the ones we can. My hope is that every grant we make, every family we support, and every life we touch reflects the man Jeremy was—not simply remembering how he was taken from us, but celebrating how he lived and allowing his compassion to continue serving others.
